We’ve talked to recent brides and grooms, hundreds of guests who have bought gifts from wedding lists, as well as experts in wedding lists,
and come up with our guide for you to follow as you make your list. Whether you’re making your list online or in store; be sure to keep the following tips in mind.
1 MAKE A LIST THAT OFFERS YOUR GUESTS LOTS OF CHOICE
You may register for The Wedding List right away and start managing your wedding list details.
Starting is simple.
Guests told us that they like to see lots of choice on a list. Many guests buy their present in the last week or so before the wedding date and they dread seeing a list that has only a handful of odds and ends left.
Avoid this by following our matrix:
"We are having a small wedding, with about 30 guests"
You should think about selecting at least 20 gifts with a final value of £1200. Ask your Concierge to tell you the value once you've made your selection
"We are sending out around 50 invitations"
For a wedding on this scale you should choose around 60 gifts totalling at least £4000.
2 PLAN YOUR LIST ROOM BY ROOM
We suggest you walk your home mentally and plan room by room, how you would like it to look. Many couples select the basic requirements for each room and forget about the accessories,
ending up with a mismatched assortment. Cookware and gadgets for the kitchen, china for the dining table and linen for the bedroom feature on many lists. Of course, you will have
these items on your list but once you’ve added those, you should add the accessories.
IN THE KITCHEN:
Visualise the cookware, gadgets and practical stuff you’d like to have. If you’re introducing a new look or colour scheme, make sure you add the complete range, so you don’t end up with an uncoordinated look.
IN YOUR DINING / EATING AREA:
You may already have decided on your range of china or tableware, so we suggest that you also think about that very special entertaining moment and include beautiful candle holders,
the finest linen (2 sets to avoid a rush to laundry in between use) and table decorations that reflect your personal style.
FOR YOUR BEDROOMS
Once you’ve selected your bed linen (three sets: one for the bed, one for the laundry, one for the linen cupboard) you’ll want to add the accessories to complement the new look —
the cushions, or perhaps a mirror, a vase or a photo frame.
Continue in this fashion room by room and soon you’ll have a beautifully co-ordinated list that your guests will love to choose from and that will give you the home of your dreams.

3 MIX AND MATCH YOUR PRICES
Our experience tells us that it’s best to have a good selection of products at over £60. Couples often feel that doing this looks greedy but actually the reverse is true!
Guests dislike the idea of having to buy 3 or 4 different things to make up the kind of gift they want to give you. So put a small selection of items at £30-£40 but a wider range at over £60.
4 "WE'D NEVER BUY THAT FOR OURSELVES"
Every list should have at least one of these! Whether it’s that beautiful pair of champagne flutes that you can only dream of owning,
or a mad experience that you’ve always secretly wanted to try, now is the time to ask for it!
